WHO IS MARCOS?

Marcos is good friends with the professional singer Eliza Handley. Eliza's family own a bar in Spain. One afternoon Marcos was sitting with Eliza and her mother Diane discussing music. Marcos mentioned one of his favourite songs is 'Don't Cry Out Loud' which was a hit for the singer Melissa Manchester in 1979. Diane said she didn't know it and Eliza said that she thought she might know it but couldn't remember. Diane asked how it sounds and Marcos sang a few bars of it. Both Eliza and Diane noted that Marcos could sing! Apart from having taken part in karaoke over the years Marcos had never sung as a professional singer to an audience.

A few weeks later the bar was putting on a bar-b-q with Eliza Handley performing on the large terrace at the rear of the bar. Eliza's father Andy, suggested to Marcos that he get up and sing. Andy mentioned it to Eliza and she invited him on stage. 

Marcos sang the Tony Bennett hit 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' which resulted in rapturous applause with some people giving a standing ovation. This was Marcos's very first attempt at singing properly to an audience.

Eliza Handley was starting a choir which Marcos joined and he also started singing lessons with Eliza who taught him how to breathe properly when singing and how to reach the higher notes. Very soon Marcos was appearing as a guest singer at Eliza Handley's shows, singing in her break. Quickly his music grew and improved giving him a style similar to Sinatra, a stage presence and the ability to be a true performer.

Marcos recorded his first solo album of ten romantic songs in November 2020 and performed in a Christmas show with Eliza Handley and her brother Nick. Marcos performed around twelve songs and also performed a comedy song sketch with Nick Handley. They sang the Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews version of 'Baby Its Cold Outside' which Marcos performed in drag! The audience absolutely loved it as a fun humorous sketch and Nick Handley excelled himself playing the 'straight' male role.

Marcos's first solo performance was at D'Vinos Restaurant, Mollina, Spain and he has gone on to perform at many venues mainly to English speaking audiences.
